The secret is out — The Kota Project just got accepted to the #OperationGirl challenge!

We want to support more girls and their causes by helping them to make their voices heard at the United Nations, and by supporting their networks. This is what we want to do:

We want to empower more girls to become global ambassadors for their causes.

Go here to see our pledge and to support us!

We want to offer representatives of girls’ organizations from all around the world an opportunity to spend a week in NYC — to speak their truth, to make their case, and to build everlasting connections at the UN, with funders, and with each other.

During the week the girls will spend in NYC:

  • They will have special meetings with potential powerful allies from other non-profits;
  • They will visit major foundations, as well as the UN;
  • In 2015, the Kota Project will organize an event for capacity-building, networking and fun cultural events for 100 representatives of small/mid-size, underserved women’s non-profits in October 2015. The girls will be VIPs in the Kota event.
  • And we want to make sure the participants will also have a great time — and form a network of their own, to spread the word.

Given that our network can offer some free lodging, we estimate that a week’s trip for each girl costs approximately $2500-$3000. We would like to bring in 5-6 girls at minumum. But the more we fundraise, the more powerful voices we can strengthen.

And here is how it works:

John Legend, RYOT and the Burkle Global Impact Initiative are teaming up to support the #OperationGirl Charity Challenge, a fundraising campaign for charities focused on women and girls.

Everything runs through Monday, August 18th at 11:59:59am ET.
The team that raises the most during the Challenge wins a $50,000 donation. Second place gets $20,000. Third gets $10,000.

Help us to help the girls, show us the Green Light!
